Join us on Camano Island for this landmark retreat. We will set aside the busy clutter in our lives and create a quiet space for prayer and renewal as we worship God in a beautiful outdoor cathedral surrounded by maple and cedar trees. Following the Celtic Christian tradition, this retreat will incorporate the rhythms of work and rest, community and solitude, prayer and biblical study. For those of you camping with us over the weekend, please note that this is “rustic” camping on mostly undeveloped land (We do have nice, clean, “HoneyBuckets” for bathrooms)
This year’s theme is “Jubilee & New Beginnings: Celebrating the Launch of Mustard Seed Village.”
Saturday we will meditate on Scripture and listen for the movement of the Spirit on forested prayer trails and in the wood-rimmed labyrinth. We will work together, worship and eat together as we enjoy a potluck lunch and BBQ dinner, and fellowship around the fire pit. Those that camp with us for the weekend will participate in morning and evening prayers and enjoy extended opportunities for fellowship and meditation. Truly, this will be a spiritual retreat to restore rhythm in our lives, rebuild our souls and renew our call to go out into the world.
Christine Sine will direct the liturgical program and meditation times. There will also be a separate children’s program for kids 5 to 10 years old during some of the morning and afternoon sessions, but we will all preparing the altar and take communion together. A Message From Tom Sine
“We are looking forward to this 20th year of our Celtic Prayer Retreat, inviting you to join us in celebrating the launch of the Mustard Seed Village. We purchased our 40 acre site in 1989 as a site as a place for spiritual retreat, community and education. We have shared our vision for the land at every Celtic prayer retreat and have sought the prayers of those who have joined us. Our prayers are finally be answered. For the past two years we have been working to create an educational program to serve college students to launch the Mustard Seed Village. Recently we have signed a memorandum of understanding with the Creation Care Study Program who offer semester away programs at their two campuses in Belize and New Zealand to offer our semester away program on our land on Camano Island.
Starting September 2012 we plan to offer a 15 week semester away program for 10 to 20 college students. We will enable them to explore sustainable ways of living and serving God in our volatile future. As you know we are coming together in our 20th annual Celtic Prayer Retreat to focus our spiritual retreat on Jubilee and New Beginnings. We also ask to join us, after a 20 year wait, in celebrating the launch of the Mustard Seed Village as start construction on our first classroom and community garden this summer.
Thanks be to God!”
