The Sharing Economy – Collaborative Consumption

— by Andy Wade –

This past week, Christine wrote two posts on her blog, Godspace, about collaborative consumption and the new shared economy. These are great (and challenging) posts worthy of a read. I’m challenged by the fact that the world seems ahead of much of the church in an area first modelled by the church in the book of Acts.

  • What is it about my North American lifestyle that encourages me to resist sharing and collaboration?
  • What are the spiritual implications of my privatised lifestyle for me, my church, my community?
  • How might harnessing the more biblical concepts of sharing and collaboration enhance not just my lifestyle, but also the fundamental mission of the Church?

These area some of the questions I’m now wrestling with after reading Christine’s posts and watching the video posted below.

What are your thoughts? Ideas?
