Celebrating into the Kingdom

MSA Imaginings September 2012 –

This summer has been a wonderful season of kingdom celebration for the MSA team. The events we participated in, the contributions to the MSA and Godspace blogs, and our involvement in the International Justice Mission summer campaign, have all drawn us into a glimpse of God’s joyful kingdom banquet.

Celebrating at the Celtic Retreat

42
Celebration reigned at the Celtic retreat as we painted Celtic designs on rocks and prayer banners, decorated the altar for our worship sessions, and wrote our own prayers and reflections. Sitting amongst the trees, soaking in the beauty of creation, participating in Jeff Johnson’s melodies, walking the prayer trails and labyrinth, fellowshipping with friends old and new enriched and enlivened our day in ways that I could never have imagined. The poles for our first classroom (photo above) became the focal point for our fellowship. In the afternoon their dedication drew us together again into our dreams and hopes for the future. More retreat photos HERE.

As we break ground on this center for imagination and sustainability we need your partnership. We still need $100,000 to complete the classroom and surrounding infrastructure, our first step toward bringing the Mustard Seed Village from dream to reality. If you haven’t already, would you consider joining us today? From small single mustard seed donations, to moderate monthly gifts, to a grand bushel of seeds, every contribution is a great encouragement and help along the journey.

Celebrating at Wild Goose and Creative World Festival

Our participation in Creative World Festival in Mission, B.C. and in Wild Goose West in

Great Conversations at WGWCorvallis, Oregon also gave ample opportunity for celebration. Both festivals brought us together with a rich array of friends old and new, stirred our imaginations with inspiring talks, and invited us to live out the kingdom in our everyday lives. Cindy Todd and Andy Wade manned the MSA booth at Wild Goose West, encouraging participants to add imaginative ideas to our budding creativity tree.

Celebrating on the Blogs

At Godspace the summer series, Lord Teach Us to Pray, is completed. The contributions from Australia, Malaysia, the UK, Canada and the US, challenge all of us to creatively shape our spiritual practices and enter into God’s kingdom celebration in new ways. You can check out the entire series here.

Snohomish Soap CompanyOn the MSA blog we celebrate the stories of creative approaches to ministry, life and faith gathered by Andy Wade from people like C.J of Wrench Raiders and Tevyn East of Leaps and Bounds ministry. We also celebrate with MSA team member Cindy Todd whose small business, Snohomish Soap Co., expanded into new markets at Puget Sound Co-operative and Haagens stores. Check it out at her recent pitch for Seattle Social Innovation Fast Pitch.

Celebrating with International Justice Mission

Tomato Sandwich Not long ago Tom’s and my favourite tomato sandwiches were featured on IJM’s Recipe for Change campaign. This sharing of recipes is a very creative way to celebrate God’s abundance while raising awareness of justice issues around the world. It is a privilege for us to partner with this project.

Celebrating a Future of Creativity and Imagination

MSA is in a stage of transition. This coming weekend we will hold an important strategic planning retreat with the expanding MSA team. This is an exciting time for our team. Please pray for us as we celebrate the effective ministry of the past 20 years and seek through use of the Quaker Discernment process and organic strategic planning to discern God’s future focus for our ministry.
