Andy Wade — Cultivator of Gardens & Neighborhoods, Writer, Web Design
Andy joined the MSA team in December 2009, he has been connected to Tom and Christine and their vision from the beginning, however, and has been hanging out with Tom since 1983.
Andy is an ordained Mennonite Pastor who ministered in the Seattle area for five years before moving with his family to Hong Kong to do leadership development, pastoring, and church planting. After 12 years of ministry in Hong Kong, Andy and his family moved back to his home town of Hood River, Oregon.
Andy began working with MSA as editor of our monthly newsletter, MSA Happenings, website developer and overall communications coordinator. While continuing in these areas, Andy has developed a new area of garden spirituality he calls “gardening with God and neighbor” which builds upon Christine’s spirituality of gardening by asking the question, “What does it mean to garden with both God and neighbor in mind?”
- Gardening with God & Neighbor
- The Spirituality of Gardening
- Justice at the Table
When not working on MSA projects, Andy can be found working in the family’s organic garden, riding sidecars, and hunting wild mushrooms with his oldest brother, Vernon, taking pictures, coordinating volunteers for the Hood River Warming Shelter, or just relaxing in the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge.
